For parents

  • Do a few rows at a time. Five minutes a day beats one long session.
  • Check the pencil grip and that each word starts at the right place, usually at the top.
  • Say each word together before writing it, and look for it in books and around the house.
  • Praise the best one on each line, and ask your child to pick their favourite.

For teachers

  • Uses the TAS Beginners school font on four-line guides (top, dashed middle, baseline, descender).
  • Words on this sheet: kangaroo, koala, wombat, emu, echidna, platypus, possum, kookaburra, dingo, wallaby, quokka, cockatoo.
  • Good for morning work, handwriting groups or homework.
  • Photocopy freely for your class.
